Vietnam Visa Types
If you are a US passport holder and wish to travel to Vietnam,
you must have a visa. Visas are issued by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Consulates General of Vietnam. The most common Vietnam visa types are listed below. Please click on the titles for further details.

This visa is for tourists or those traveling to Vietnam for any personal reasons, and is valid for 1 to 3 months. Single- and multiple-entry visas are available for the same length of time.
This visa is for those planning on doing business in Vietnam, with a single entry stay for 1 to 3 months, and multiple entries for options of 1, 3, 6, or 12 months (1 year). Please note that a multiple-entry visa for 6 or 12 months will require approval from the Vietnamese Immigration Service. In order to obtain a business visa, you will need a business letter from the company or institution you work for, as well as a letter of invitation from the company or institution you are visiting.
The diplomatic visa is intended for those conducting diplomatic or official work in Vietnam. You will need a letter from the State Department to obtain this visa. Only a single-entry visa for 30 days is available.
Vietnam Student Visa
This visa is available for students attending university or institution at Vietnam, and is generally valid for up to six months. You will need to provide your letter of acceptance from this school in order to obtain this visa.
